Manufacturing Academy

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Technology Education at Laurel Highlands in grades one through twelve is to help students learn how to appropriately use, assess, and apply technology to effectively make decisions and contribute to a rapidly changing technological society. After graduation, students will be better prepared for a post-secondary education of their choosing.

VISION STATEMENT

The Academy of Industrial, Manufacturing & Mechanical Careers is a hands-on set of courses that are designed to prepare the student for careers and/or post-secondary industrial training. (Trade Schools) The student will gain the confidence and competencies necessary to be successful in the areas of Post-secondary Industrial Training. This will, in turn, enable the student to enter a trade field well above the minimum pay grade in that field.

ABOUT THE ACADEMY

Laurel Highlands offers students the opportunity to join one of several academies including the Academy of Industrial, Manufacturing & Mechanical Careers. Students who qualify must apply to participate in an academy program. The academy is a four-year program to supplement and enrich the traditional curriculum. Academy courses are scheduled as electives and do not interfere with students who wish to take Honors or Advanced Placement classes.

The Academy of Industrial, Manufacturing & Mechanical Careers is an action based hands-on discipline that explores many areas of Industrial technology used today. Students will explore these fields by building projects that require the same skills as detailed in the lessons. If you like to use your hands as well as your mind then this is the Academy for you.
