Essential Skills electives are designed to aid the student in becoming a well-rounded individual.  The curriculum is developed to be of interest to all students, regardless of talent, and encourages active participation in the classroom.  The variety of courses increases student learning through “hands-on” class lab situations. The courses in the Essential Skills Department help students to make connections between their learning and personal/career choices. Essential Skills classes play an important role in the development of the whole student.  Business, Hospitality & Tourism, Engineering, Family Consumer Science, Communication & Technology, Manufacturing, and Freshman Seminar contribute to the personal development, expression, creativity, and basic skills necessary for every student.
